Success and Motivation Tips , Advice...
How do you know if a person is willing to attain self improvement? This is a question with no definite answer. It will all depend on the individual.
Many people have goals, dreams or ambitions but do not know how to go about achieving them. They may have thought about what would make up self improvement and their ideal life, but have no idea how to even begin to make the plans and take the actions required to make them a reality.
Some people have a vague idea on how to go about self improvement. These are the ones that believe that if only they had a better job, or had been given better opportunities, or met the love of their life, or whatever else, everything would be fine and they would be happy.
They feel that their happiness or lack of happiness is decided by external factors and their thoughts and actions are of little consequence.
Some believe that if only they had more money they could have whatever they want and be on their way to self improvement.
They may have spent little time thinking about what they actually want from life, and do not really believe there is anything they can do to create their fuzzy version of utopia anyway, apart from buying more lottery tickets.
Other people do not even know what they actually want from their lives and may even have little idea what would really makes them happy. They seem to just drift from day to day, week to week, month to month, and year to year, and do little more than just about get by.
They may have seemingly secure jobs and be earning enough to live relatively comfortable lives. They seem happy enough and have no great ambition to achieve anything more from their lives than they currently have.
Is self improvement important?
The reality is that throughout our lives we are all constantly growing and developing. Circumstances make us grow and develop, even if we do not make the conscious decision to do so.
Up to a certain age, we learn through formal education and we continue to learn through our experiences for the rest of our lives. We have to learn and grow to deal with everything that life throws at us. We all have to go through self improvement.
Modern life moves at a dramatically faster pace than at anytime in history. For anyone living in modern society there are more opportunities to do anything that you want to do with your life than ever before.
But there is also more competition than ever before, and ever changing technology means that there really are few, if any ‘jobs for life’ anymore. It is now normal not only to change jobs quite often throughout our working lives, but even to completely change careers and industries.
Because the workplace is so competitive, people who are ambitious and hungry for success know they need to learn new skills and knowledge to keep ahead of the pack. To attain this, self improvement is needed.
These are the people that will be most likely to keep their jobs, or progress within their chosen field, or that will be readily employable in different organizations or industries.
A commitment to self improvement and personal growth may well be the deciding factor in how anyone’s future will turn out.
The high cost of living in today’s society, wherever you may be, has made budgeting a priority among families. In today’s inflationary world, nothing is more important than knowing how to wisely spend the meager income that you get.
Financial problems usually arise due to lack of proper budgeting skills, or failure to keep to the proposed budget. No matter how much income you may have, it is still important to keep track of your assets and liabilities, your earnings and expenses.
It is ironic but a person who earns thousands will have the same problems with the person who earns by the hundreds. Most often, different kinds of people, with diverse income levels, have budgeting problems. Others who may have been successful in making a budget, usually fail to keep within such a budget.
A budget refers to a financial plan, taking the incoming and outgoing monetary resources into consideration. A good budget should not only mean a balance or equity between income and expenditures. It also means lesser expenses, and making an allowance for savings.
If you earn a thousand dollars per month, you should map out all the necessary expenses you will have to incur during the month such as payment for your house, food and transportation. Of course, this is presuming that your tax liabilities have already been settled. What remains after you deduct your total expenses from your income is your savings.
What you do with your savings will make a difference later on, when the need arises. You can choose to keep your savings in a piggy bank or place it in a bank where there is minimum interest rate but at least your money is safe from you and from intruders. With a bigger savings, you can get the services of a financial adviser who can give you higher-yielding investment options
Here are tips to make sure that you keep within the family budget:
1. Maintain a logbook where you can list your income and expense account on a weekly or monthly schedule.
2. Buy your groceries at one time. To do this, make a list of all the things that you would need for your target period and purchase them at one time. Sometimes, there are discounts if you buy by the dozen so take advantage of this.
3. Avoid going to the supermarket and shops if you do not need to buy necessary items. This will keep you from making unnecessary purchases and keep you from straying away from your budget.
4. Think twice before you buy something. By doing this, you will realize that it is not really a necessity but a whim.
The Success Habit of Imagination
Habits of your imagination impact how you experience the world around you, including what you see, how you see it, what you attract to you in life and what it means to you. As a result, how you use imagination on a habitual basis profoundly affects the life you experience and the life that you are creating on a daily basis. Imagination helps control the mental filtering process or focus you use as you look at the world. You use this filter when you picture life and believe things about that which you see. This includes the things that you determine are possible and likely to happen. With such far reaching effects to impact our lives it is vitally important we bring our power of imagination into service for us in our quest for success, and insure we do not misdirect it to our detriment.
What you mentally picture and regularly think about is more important to success than you might first believe. Images you see, what you vision, and beliefs you have about all of this are critical for your MLM and life success. You use your imagination to form expectations about the given situations in your life, what will happen if you take different action, and what you see as the possible new outcomes.
Your imaginative force influences more of the outcomes and events in your life than most people think it does. If you think, see, or imagine negative outcomes, then negative outcomes tend to manifest themselves in your life. You actually begin to create and attractive force for negative results to appear. You co-create the result. It's imperative that you begin to understand that life has given you creative force energy.
If you practice negative habits in your imagination regularly, then this becomes the energy signature and expectations you regularly infuse into your relationships, life, business, and environments. Because like tends to attract like, if you behave (use your creative ability) in a consistently negative fashion, then negativity in all aspects in your life begins to self-propagate and manifest with increasing frequency. The law of attraction plays itself out in all these instances.
Take into account the opposite extremes where people seem to get all the breaks in life. Luck, favor, and chance seem to forever be on their side. We sometimes grumble because they are happy and joyful, and seem to expect happiness and joy on a regular basis. If we ourselves are stuck in a negative pattern and unable to produce the results we want to in life, we see these people and it aggravates us.
Some of these people actually expect to win and then they do!. These people believe things will go well and that life will unfold to their advantage in all circumstances and conditions, thus teaching and benefiting them. They dream dreams and expect to accomplish them. What baffles many is that they realize and manifest the reality that they have imagined, or at least a reasonable facsimile of it. Their dreams actually become reality. They appear happy, joyous, and un-fettered. Nothing much seems to bother them. It baffles many people. They actually manifest abundance in their lives, and they regularly accomplish what they set their intention toward doing. Seeming miracles are regularly a part of their lives. Is this really such a great mystery, or rather; is it a principle of creation presenting clear evidence for all to see?
It's clear that your imagination is involved in what you are thinking about most of the time. This is true whether you are picturing the future, reliving the past, or formulating plans to more fully engage in the present. How you use your imagination will affect the entire outcome and piloting of your life. Evaluate yourself to determine whether you are using your imagination to communicate positive, successful, happy, images to yourself? Are your thought impulses and energy of a nature that will positively impact the substance and direction of your life? What kind of results are you generating with your imagination?
It's important to realize how you think about or look at something in life, actually has a physical effect upon the energy and matter that things and events are made from. This is the nature of coincidence. This phenomenon is real and has been demonstrated at subatomic levels. The energy you put forth into the world has an actual effect upon other energy. Matter is really just energy in rapid patterned movement so if you think about this, you can believe this process can actually affect matter, energy, and therefore outcomes in life. Hence you literally have creative influence and ability. This is a mystery that quantum physics has discovered, but is only just starting to understand and explain. We do not intend to give a physics lesson today, but you should strongly consider the ramifications of the preceding universal principle. Will you make responsible use of this information for the betterment of life now that you better understand the importance of mastering imagination?
Those who longed to attain flight more than one-hundred years ago achieved it by aiming imagination, intention, and belief toward the skies, not toward the ground. They refused to focus imagination on all the reasons man had not attained flight previously. They failed to dwell upon the scientific and mathematical data of the era, which declared human flight was impossibility, an unreachable goal. The end result was that imagination triumphed, changed the course of history, and helped to shape the very world we live in today and what's possible. The impossible was achieved. You see evidence of this fact everywhere you look today. When you look at the world and believe you can't do something think of this fact.
If you don't have the vision to see, think, imagine, or feel that something is possible, and that you can personally achieve it, you will be frustrated in your efforts to accomplish whatever it is (resistance is firmly established). Far too many obstacles remain in your path until you utilize these assets constructively and for right purpose.
Imagination is a powerful success tool. Pay close attention to your use of immagination and eventually learn to master it. Remember to pay attention to things aside from what is really happening in front of you right in this instant, how are you employing your imagination in the background? How are you filtering and coloring the data coming toward you? What are you thinking about, imagining, picturing and feeling, and what are your beliefs about the information you are assembling in your mind? Are you enjoying feelings that serve you or bad feelings associated with them? Are these activities productive and making the best use of your energy and time? Are you using the faculty of imagination to improve your life, and are you getting positive emotions, passion, desire, and fulfillment as a result?
What you attract regularly with your habits of imagination deeply affects your outcomes in life. Imagination mixed with energy, expectation, and emotion produces an effect on the very fabric of your reality. This variable of imagination is one more element to properly use and master in a sequence and system of techniques known as the success equation.

Ways To Handle Your Personal Finances Without Stress
While it is sometimes difficult to consider something as seemingly inconsequential as a week's groceries as an investment, that is exactly what they are. By wisely choosing what we spend our money on, whether that choice is between a groceries or a night out on the town or perhaps between a home or a luxury vehicle, we are deciding our financial future.
When thinking about how to make the most out of your personal finances, consider carefully the pros and cons of taking out stocks. This is because, while it's well known that, in the long run, stocks have historically beaten all other investments, they are risky in the short term as they fluctuate a lot. If you're likely to be in a situation where you need to get access to money fast, stocks may not be your best option.
A great tip for anyone interested in finding extra money each month to put toward existing debts is to make a habit each day of emptying your pockets or purse of change received during cash transactions. It may seem like a small thing, but you will be amazed by how much money actually accumulates over time, and you may find yourself paying down that stubborn credit card balance faster than you ever thought possible.
When you make note of expenses in your check ledger, always round up your numbers to the next dollar. When you make a deposit, round down. In this way, you will build a little padding into your checking account to help you avoid overdrafts. When your "slush fund" has built up enough to help you eliminate monthly fees, continue deducting them anyway. They will be set aside in your checking account and will add to your savings.
Start saving money for your children's college education as soon as they are born. College is a very large expense, but by saving a small amount of money every month for 18 years you can spread the cost. Even if you children do not go to college the money saved can still be used towards their future.
Try using free checking accounts. Certain institutions, like online banks or credit unions, provide free accounts.
One of the things that you will have to avoid is giving into temptation and buying things that you do not need. Instead of purchasing that fancy pair of shoes, invest that money in a high yield savings account. These decisions can go a long way in building your net worth.
Credit cards are convenient and more secure than a debit card. If you get approved for a credit card, stick to using it on essential items, such as groceries and gas for your car. By purchasing items with your card, you will usually gain rewards, such as cash or maybe even frequent flier points.
The best way to manage your personal finances in the short-term is to maintain a monthly budget. Yes, budgeting can be annoying and difficult, but nothing else will let you see where your money goes. Tracking your spending and keeping a budget will help you build a savings account and limit unnecessary spending.
A young consumer with a modest personal financial situation, should resist the temptation to open accounts with many credit card companies. Two cards should be adequate for the consumer's needs. One of these can be used regularly and ideally paid down regularly, to build up a positive credit history. A second card should serve strictly as an emergency resource.
One of the best ways to improve your finances is to purchase the generic brand of products. The next time you are in the supermarket, purchase the store brand cereal, which can taste just as good as the higher priced, marketed brand. This can save you a lot of money when projected out over the year.
When you are taking out money, one thing that you must try to avoid is withdrawing from a different bank than your own. Each withdrawal will cost you between 2 to 4 dollars and can add up over time. Stick to the bank of your choice if you want to minimize your miscellaneous expenses.
Sign up for a rewards credit card if you qualify. You may be able to turn your expenses into things that you need. However, you must be able to pay your card balance in full to take advantage of the benefits. Otherwise, the rewards card will just become another debt burden.
If your employer offers a match to your 401K, make sure you're contributing at least the amount they match. When an employer offers to match your funds, they are essentially giving you free money. The money you contribute will help you reach retirement goals and is tax free. It's a win-win situation, all around.
Set goals on how you will manage your money. This can help you quell the desire of buying something on impulse. Your financial goals should reflect your priorities. When you have clear goals, you are less likely to spend on things that that do not bring you closer to that goal.
The easiest and most obvious way to give yourself more financial breathing room is to ask for a raise. If you have been with your company for over a year without a raise and research shows that their competitors are paying as much or more to their employees in comparable positions, then use this information to negotiate your way to better pay.
If you find yourself in need of a personal loan, but are faced with banks that are generally unwilling to make them, you should gather documents that prove that you are a low-risk credit consumer. This can include favorable payment records on car loans or credit card companies, as well as paycheck stubs from a stable employer.
Even the purchases we make on a day to day basis can ultimately spell the difference between financial success and financial failure. The tips provided above help us make the types of decisions that will make the difference. Investments, after all, come in all shapes and sizes. So too do money bottomless pits which always ending up costing us more than they pay back.

Setting Goals: Your only recipe for success
Setting Goals: Your only recipe for success
Goals are like signposts. As long as you can see these signposts, then you know you are heading in the right direction. When you set goals, you eliminate the possibility veering off the track and derailing into failure. When a train veers of the rails, the entire locomotive is derailed. Looking at the rails, one does not see anything special in them; just a solid mass of steel. But that simple mass of steel ensures that the train remains on course and that everyone on board reaches their destination safely and on time.
Goals are like rails. Without them, our claim to success will never find expression in reality. Just as a train must stay on the rails to complete the journey, our dreams, our ambitions, and our desires must find expression in goals that are clear, realistic and timely.
When we have well articulated and clearly defined goals, the journey towards success becomes lighter, even less tiring. This is because goals help us to (i) stay focused (ii) be realistic in our expectations (iii) gauge our progress (iv) avoid being overwhelmed (v) re-evaluate and redefine our strategy to ensure conformity and consistency with our objectives.
Stay focused
John Maxwell says "obstacles are the things you see when you take your eyes off the goal". How true! Every time you take your eyes away from the goal at hand, you will surely wander off into troubled waters. If you get to a point in your success journey where you can't see your goal, you are definitely headed into failure territory.
Goals constantly remind us that there are tasks that need to be done, and within a particular time frame, for us to make progress. Without goals reminding us of where we are and what we are supposed to do to get where we ought to be, we will only be working hard and achieving nothing. Hard work, as Maxwell says, "is the accumulation of easy tasks you did not do when you should have". The easy routine tasks that we sometimes ignore feeds into our success. Failure to perform these tasks will translate into failure.
Goals must be realistic
Goals must be firmly established upon unflinching reality. If you want to go to New York and you only have ten dollars, it would be foolhardy to start packing for your journey. The reality is that boarding a plane to New York from Nairobi costs more than 10 dollars! But you say, "I have faith in God"? Well, faith is not foolish, neither is it an emotion. No amount of goose bumps or frenzied hysteria will take you to New York on ten dollars. Be real or you will miss the deal.
Goals are yardsticks
Like yardsticks, goals help us gauge or measure our progress, or lack of it. Without goals constantly reminding us where we are and what we should be doing to get where we ought to be, we will be running wild. No amount of sticking our head deep into the sand will help us achieve success. We must stick it out to the end by daily attaining the goals we have set for ourselves. This can only be done if today's tasks are 'done' today!
To post pone to tomorrow today's task will only mean one thing: a clog up tasks. The result is that we end up breaking our backs trying to accomplish both yesterday's and today's tasks; resulting in sloppy and unfinished tasks.
Goals help us avoid overwhelm
To de-stress our lives, we need to learn how to work smart by finishing our daily tasks on schedule.
This is important if we are to avoid being overwhelmed by tasks carried over from yesterday.
One of the leading causes of burnout and depression is the failure to tackle simple tasks on time. As tasks pile up one after another, we end up having to work overtime and sometimes overnight; pushing our body to limits it was not designed to go. To avoid overwhelm, learn to decongest your life by doing what must be done today, today! However if you want to work hard and up stressing yourself, go ahead and let the tasks accumulate.
Goals help us re-strategize
Finally we need to re-evaluate and redefine our strategy to ensure conformity with our objectives. Strategies help us achieve our goals faster. However, some of the strategies we use are sometimes rendered obsolete by the passage of time. When this happens, it is important to redefine or tweak them a little.
Strategies must always remain relevant and in line with the desired goals. When they become irrelevant or obsolete, they should be discarded and new ones invented.
Strategies help us save time by crowding out irrelevant tasks; those that only take up our time but which do not feed into in to our goals. Strategies also help us to concentrate on priority tasks; those that are crucial to the attainment of our goals.

Designing Inspiring Environments
Designing Inspiring Environments
The influence of your personal environments on your health, creativity, and well-being is often subtle, yet profound. You can use the environments you live in to support you in feeling good about yourself, to experience less stress, and to be more productive.
Personal environments can include your relationships with family, friends, and colleagues, your work environment, networks, ideas, learning environments - and your physical environment - such as your home, the community you live in, nature, your garden, the technology you use, the information you absorb - everything that you surround yourself with. It can also be the foods you keep in our house, the beautiful objects and colors around you, the books, magazines and newspapers you read, the movies you watch, and the thoughts you think.
Personal environments can also include your 'internal surroundings' - your belief systems and thought patterns. As you work on raising your awareness of your inner thoughts and eliminating negative or unproductive thoughts, you might notice increased levels of energy and focus.
It's possible to revitalize your surroundings or environments and design them so they bring out the very best in you, so that they evolve you toward a successful, inspiring, struggle-free life. As you develop your personal environments, you develop yourself and your capacity to be creative and to receive ongoing inspiration and support.
The goal is to design supportive environments that will inspire you to be your best and do great things. Success and personal development are more sustainable when there are environments and failsafe structures which support it.
ASSESS YOUR PERSONAL ENVIRONMENTS
Being fully alive calls you to play a much bigger game in life...evolving to your optimal potential or 'greatness'. Do the environments around you bring out your best? Do you receive enough creative inspiration? Do you know what sparks your muse? Is there enough intellectual and spiritual stimulation in your life?
1. When you are feeling fully alive, what is going on for you?
2. How do you feel as you walk into your workspace? Into your home?
3. On a scale from 1-5, with 5 being the most desirable, how much would you say your environments are supporting you in living the life you most desire?
4. What is something in your environment that you are tolerating that could be removed?
5. What is something that is missing from your personal environments that, if added, would inspire you to do and be your best?
6. What methods do you use on a daily basis to raise your energy level?
7. What beliefs most profoundly affect your way of thinking?
TRY THIS
If inspiration is an energy that flows through the spaces we inhabit, it is wise for us to remove any items that might block its path, and add items that would increase its presence.
Choose one physical environment in your workspace or home to concentrate on. If you could change one thing in your surroundings starting today, what would you change? Each day, do one task in that environment to establish order, create space, remove items that block your creativity, add items that you love, perhaps add color - and design surroundings that will inspire you to be and do your best.
Creating an environment that truly supports you in being your best can be a very worthwhile long-term project. Envision what an inspiring, stimulating environment would be for you, and have the patience to build that vision a step at a time. It's worth the work!
FINAL THOUGHT
"If you have not used something in the past year, regardless of how attached to it you are, pass it along. You have used up its usefulness to you... letting go of attachments is a rewarding way to feel positive about yourself, and to keep things flowing back into your own life as well." ~ Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

Procrastination Solutions
By: Lael Johnson
I'm assuming that you have encountered some form of procrastination in your life. For those of you who don't struggle with procrastination. Congratulations! I find procrastination especially frustrating to handle, when it disguises itself as irritability, confusion and anger, pointing my heart and mind away from where the real causes lie.
Procrastination is a temporary solution to cover or push away intense feelings during the creative process. Some creatives feel anxiety before starting a project. Others feel depressed in the middle of creating a project. Still others struggle being unable to finish a project, especially one that comes closest to the realization of part of their artistic vision. They don't want to face the unknowns of exploring a new project.
Procrastination is a form of self-sabotage. I call it a short-term last resort. If you let procrastination go, it can take over your life. In the following exercises, I can increase your awareness of how procrastination may be interfering with your work. Remember to choose to work one exercise at time. Take your time when you write. Be patient as you start to react to these two exercises. Let your mind and heart gently guide you toward deeper awareness and desire to change.
TO-DO LISTS:
Lists are easy to write in your journal. If you can write a laundry list, then you can write a journal list. Feel free to choose organization tools that work best for you. My preference is to use a combination of my calendar, some goal files (pc), index cards and my memory. When I'm creating lists, I like having access to both flexible tools(cards and memory) and a workable structure ( past lists and some goal files). Remember to write a clear, easy to read, and detailed to-do list.
CHOOSE ONE AREA: Choose one urgent "procrastination" area.
To help your focus answer the following questions about your situation:
Purpose: Increasing your awareness of your resistance:
What part of this activity, that I don't want to do? (answer in specifics)
What am I feeling about working on this activity? (There may be more than one feeling)
What would I rather be doing?
What is so attractive about resisting this activity?
Purpose: Increasing your awareness of your motivation:
What part of doing this creative project do you like?
What are your feeling about this creative project? (any feelings)
Summarize your resistance statements and your motivated statements
Look for any similarities and differences (use this information to answer the next question)
Look for ways to increase your motivational actions and decrease your procrastination actions.
Congratulations! You've chosen your new goal.
Start working on it now!!
No more procrastination!

Does Attitude Really Determine Altitude?
By Paul Uduk
Keith Harrell's book screams, Attitude is Everything: 10 Life-Changing Steps to Turning Attitude into Action. Jeff Keller not to be outdone goes a step further and shouts, Attitude is Everything: Change your Attitude, Change your Life. Two of the fathers of modern motivational literature, Napoleon Hill, and W. Clement Stone, had in 1960 written what many consider the definitive treatise on attitude when Success Through A Positive Mental Attitude was published. Though it didn't have the word attitude in its title, Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People was on positive attitude and was first published in 1937.
The very first ever book on positive attitude was entitled Self Help and was written by Samuel Smiles, a Scottish doctor, in 1859, and sold 250,000 copies. Oliver Swett Marden latched onto Self Help and in 1891 published his Pushing to the Front, which according to him were notes of "inspiration and help to strugglers trying to be somebody and do something in the world", which culminated in his lunching of SUCCESS Magazine in 1895. According to the editors of SUCCESS Magazine, in SUCCESS, Marden "sought to inspire and uplift, to teach and to hold up models of success as a beacon for others who aspire to be the same." With SUCCESS Magazine, Marden launched the "success movement", otherwise called the "self-help movement."
Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill, which came out in 1937 literally set the success movement on fire and the movement has never looked back. At the time of Napoleon Hill's death in 1970, it had sold over 20million copies. The towering figures in this movement, excluding the founder Marden, and not necessarily in any order, include the early fathers like Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, W. Clement Stone, Earl Nightingale, Norman Vincent Peale, Denis Waitley, Wayne Dyer, and Og Mandino. Next are the later-day followers like Zig Ziglar, Harvey Mackay, Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, Les Brown, and Tony Robbins. With the advent of the internet, a new generation of success gurus led by Brendon Burchard has exploded in the scene with millions of followers. Donald Trump, the real estate mogul, is in a class of his own. His Think Big and Kick Ass In Business and in Life is one of the definitive bibles of the success movement.
The Self Help industry according to The Guardian, is a $11bn strong in the US alone, with books in this space such as Chicken Soup for the Soul series selling over a billion copies. The book The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne, published in 2006, and the follow up film starring Bob Proctor made waves the whole world and was translated into 46 languages. The book has sold more than 19 million copies worldwide. The book is based on one of the several tendencies in the self help industry called the law of attraction. According to this law, what you think about, you attract. If you think positive thoughts, you attract positive things. The reverse, according to the author, is also true. Viola, change your thinking, change your life. John C. Maxwell, Wayne Dyer, Daniel G. Amen, Brian Tracy, and Marilee Adams are some of the more well- known authors that have books on how thinking positive help change our lives.
So back to our question: does attitude really determine altitude? For the non cognoscenti, altitude refers to the level of your monetary success, the height of your achievement glory, the stupendousness of your wealth. A deep look at some of the most successful people on the planet, whether in politics, sports, academia, business, and entertainment, to mention a few, however, shows no causal relationship between attitude and success, however defined. George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Muhammad Ali, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Jordan, Nelson Mandela, Steve Jobs, Williams Shakespeare, Bill Gates, Ben Carson, and Oprah Winfrey, Tony Elumelu, Aliko Dangote, and Richard Branson, to mention a few, are some of the most successful individuals on record. How did each and every one of these individuals achieve stupendous success? One word: through grit.
By success, I don't just mean financial wealth, because Nelson Mandela, one of the most successful leaders that ever lived was not a multi millionaire. So the one and only ingredient that separates successful people from others is grit, by which I mean hard work, burning the mid night oil, iron determination, standing for something, sacrifice. Malcolm Gladwell tells us to succeed in any endeavor, you need 10,000 man hours of continued practice, that is, about 10 years in the trenches. Ten years of learning, ten years of focus, ten years of faith, ten years of passion, ten years of sacrifice are what you need to reach the proverbial tipping point.
Attitude is a state of mind, of always expecting the best no matter what the world throws on your path. But attitude (the software) without hard work (the hard ware) will not put bread on your table, even if you are a comedian. As a comedian, you have to continually come up with fresh rib crackers otherwise you will become stale, and that calls for extreme hard work. John H. Johnson of the Ebony Magazine empire fame said "there is no defense against excellence", and the boxing maverick, Don King, once said, "if you set yourself on fire, the world will come and watch you burn." Don King was talking about passion, zeal, determination, to go out and make something out of yourself, not waiting for a dole out, social security or manna from heaven. Are you ready for success? Then wake up, put on your running shoes, fold your shirt sleeves, put your hand to the plough and never look back and the gods of success will smile on you. Only hard work will see you to the Promised Land because the maker of all the universe Himself decreed that he who does not work does not eat. You need great attitude. But attitude alone, my friend, is not enough. You need a ton of grit to stand on.

The 5 Mindsets Of Successful People
By Cosimo Galletti
Over the past couple of years I've had the opportunity to work with many different people. The question that is often talked about is what makes the difference between the people who "get what they want" and everyone else? It all comes down to mindset and perspective. Here are five perspectives that these people have in common.
1. Successful people have a purpose. When you look at great achievements and the people who worked on them, there is a common theme. Every great achievement came from the person having a purpose. This purpose was greater than just themselves or their personal gain. Of course achievers understand that they themselves will benefit from the achievement but this ego driven desire is not enough. Successful people do what they do because of a need to see these achievements come to the world and impact us all.
2.Successful people use their time to its fullest. Using all your available time to forge ahead is common with those who achieve greatness. Success is sprung from an unrelenting desire to see a vision become reality. The cause that drives them is energizing not tiresome. To these people it is a passion, not an obligation.
3.Successful people understand the role of failure. With any new venture comes new learning. As human beings we learn best through trial and error. This failure is what holds most people back from beginning. The successful understand that they will first have to stretch themselves to new learning before realizing the goal. The more comfortable you can become with this idea, the faster the goal is realized.
4.Successful people seek out obstacles. To achieve you must understand that there will always be obstacles along the path. You will not be able to see all of them when you begin but they will inevitably be there. The successful understand this and trust that when the time comes and the obstacle comes up they will be prepared to overcome. They seek out the obstacles instead of trying to avoid them.
5.Successful people look for the outcome. Beginning any new challenge is difficult. The successful understand this and accept that during the journey they will experience discomfort and even pain. This is why they will always look to the outcomes of the work they are doing, and not what they are feeling. Successful people know that when they are in deep and willing themselves through a difficult time they will experience discomfort. They have a perspective that discomfort and learning go hand in hand.
During your day-to-day reflect on these five perspectives and ask yourself if you were to adopt these perspectives would you be in the same place you are now? How can you change your habits to adopt a more focused and successful mindset? All change begins with a purpose. What will you strive to become? What will be your purpose?
