What golfer doesn’t envision himself getting into the tee-box and calmly, effortlessly smoking the ball 300+ yards, straight down the middle of the fairway?

For many of us, this is no more than a fantasy. Even if we do hit that occasional “perfect” drive, we’re hardly consistent about it.
But luckily, it doesn’t have to be this way.

By practicing this very simple golf lesson to follow, being more consistent with long, straight drives doesn’t have to be just something you wish for but a reality instead.

Adding 10 or 20 or even more yards to your tee-shot can dramatically shave strokes off of your game and that is the focus of this short golf lesson.

Whether you’re playing golf for money as a professional, for bragging rights or just for fun, an extra ten to twenty yards with your driver can vastly improve your ability to score well.

Maybe you are a long hitter already or you might be a player who doesn’t hit it long yet, but you can add at least 10 yards to your drive easily with a simple drill that anyone can learn to practice.

For those of you, who often grab your 3-Wood or use an iron off the tee because you’re afraid of going for the long ball, listen up.
I feel your pain!

It is extremely frustrating to try and hit a perfect driver only to be deep in the rough to left or the right of the fairway or who-the heck knows where.

But before you give up on it and convince yourself that real golfers "Drive for show, and putt for dough" listen to what Greg Norman had to say about the subject:

In his book SHARK ATTACK he wrote, "Don't ever sell me on that line. If you can't put your tee-shot in play, the smoothest stroke in the world won't help you enough. To my mind, the most important shot in golf is the drive".

Alright then, let’s get started. Grab your driver and put on your normal grip.

Now release the last 3 fingers on each hand (for those of you slow learners like me, we’re talking about the pinky, ring and middle finger on each hand). You should now have only the index finger (pointer) and thumb of each hand on the club.

With your left thumb and pointer, start your swing by pushing the left side of the grip back, adding just a bit of shoulder and hip turn.

Notice how the driver head extends naturally back along the target line and the toe of the club is pointing up. Your swing will now be on line and on plane and will automatically give you the right feel and easily add more than 10 yards to your tee shots with greater accuracy.

Keep drilling this until you really get the feel for it. Start slow with the driver and practice with all of your clubs. Keep this slow pace and visualize what it is you are doing.

When done correctly, repeatedly and with focus, your body will remember what to do and you’ll be getting the clubface in proper position time and again.

Make sure to start with your hands and then add your shoulders and hips naturally.

Too much shoulders takes the clubhead back on a shallow plane, that’s why starting the club back with just your index finger and thumb, prevents you from manipulating the club off plane and helps the club extend back on that natural arc we’re all looking for in order to stay on plane.

I just know that if you spend a few minutes working on this you will reap the benefits pretty quickly and start adding 10, 20 or more yards to your driver with greater accuracy.

You stimulate your mind to think I want to work harder, he is fast but I am faster, the game is never over. Self hypnosis makes these reactions the only option that you give yourself to the information processing in your mind.

The other way to improve your performance is using self hypnosis to make you technique improve. Technique is incredibly difficult to master because your mind has to process so much information at the same time. Self hypnosis helps this because it allows your mind to react to your thoughts and suggestions without argument. I will use an example of learning a back flip.

When you learn the technique of a back flip (feet to feet) you must throw your straight arms to the sky while you jump, after jumping you must drive your arms down and tuck your knees to your chest. Now when learning this technique the most common thought going through someones mind is I do not want to land on my head. Self hypnosis is used to make your mind only focus on arms to the sky, jump and tuck without hesitation. This can allow you to learn a back flip in one session instead of taking a month to overcome fear.

Never Slice Again! Did you know there are 3 types of slices in golf. You need to know which one you do in order to fix it. Maybe you've been trying to fix the wrong type of slice all this time. The secret move that will help you stop from coming over the top of the ball. I'll teach you the anti-sidespin setup and three incredible drills that will have you on your way to hitting the ball straighter and further than you ever have in your life.


Let's start with the 3 types of slices. Chances are you are hitting the golf ball in one of these 3 ways if your a "slicer".

1. The Straight Slice- this happens when you path is straight and in alignment, but you leave you club face open just a little bit. The result- the ball starts off straight, it's looking good for the fist 150 yards, and then it slowly starts to fade down the right side of the fairway.

2. The Pull Slice- Your swing path is outside-in and your club face is open- Double whammy! The result you start off left to over compensate and then your ball takes a right turn down the fairway and ends up way right.

3. The Push Slice- Your swing path is inside-out and your club face is open. Ouch! The result- Your start going right, right off the bat (I mean club) and keep going right, and keep going right, and keep going right. You get my point.

Why is it important to know which slice you hit? Well, the reason is, in order to fix it you need to know if it a swing path problem, a an open faced club problem or both. Once you know that, you can work on these drills I'll explain later to help you fix them.

The #1 slice causing problem is improper swing path. You hit the ball square but it's the angle your club hits the ball the causes the slice. This would result in a straight ball off the tee, but one that fades down the right side of the fairway after it's out there a ways.

Here is a very simple but very effective drill that will help you alleviate the problem. Setup in your normal position, feet just past shoulder width, knees slightly bent, only this time take your back foot and move it so your toes are just about in line with your heal of your front foot. Now take some practice swings. This will force you to hit the ball with an inside-out path and make your balls go much straighter off the tee, and stay straighter down the fairway. Get a feel for this and then move your back foot back into position. You'll be hitting it straighter right away.

The next most common slice is the open club face. Even if the club face is open just one measly little degree, it can send your ball off by more than 10 yards. For this next drill you may want someone to video tape your or at least watch what you are doing to tell you the results.
Take your normal backswing with say 5 or 6 iron. Now stop at the top of your swing, just before you would begin your downswing. (This is where you'll need some help). Where is your club head pointing? If it's pointing down you will have an open club face at impact. If it's pointing right, your too closed. In the correct position you shouldn't even see the club face from behind, it should be perfectly parallel with the shaft at 45 degrees. Work on various grips and setup's until you can get the correct position at the top of your swing. Just a minor little tweak will make a big difference. Don't over due it.

A drill to help get proper swing plane...take 2-3 middle irons at a time. swing them back and forth over and over again in your warm up, this will help you produce a proper backswing and swing through the target correctly on the proper plane. The reason being is that you can't swing too hard with 3 clubs at a time. This lead me to my next point...

And finally stop trying to kill it! You'll get more power from a centered contact than you would from an open faced hit or a swing with an improper plane. There is just too much that has to happen at the exact pin-point second in a golf swing to hit the ball properly. If your coming out of your shoes and your balance is off, forget about it. You can swing as hard as you can and it still won't go as far as a 3/4 swing that is squared up and right in the center of the club head. Don't go too far back in your backswing, if your not that flexible, your balance will be off and so will your swing path. Just take a nice slow backswing until you feel the tension and then begin your downswing.

Length of the club is important, but it's not everything. The pros say that the size of your golf club's grip should be comfortable for your hands. That's why clubs for younger players and women often have a smaller grip.

If you should decide to go for a set of custom clubs, what is the process? It's nothing like be measured for a suit. The point is not only to make the club reach from the point of your outstretched hand to the ground, but also to make the most of your body - your strengths and your weaknesses. So don't go for your custom golf club fitting session expecting to spread your arms and stand still while someone uses a tape measure.

A good custom fit will probably take place both inside and outside. The best custom fit clubs will be tailored so that your swing is taken into account. Sound expensive? Possibly.

Consider the shots that you may have been compensating for all your years of playing golf. If you're taller or shorter than the "typical" golfer, or even if you have some muscle strengths or weaknesses that make your game a bit more of a challenge, custom clubs can help you compensate.

But what if you want the clubs immediately? Do you have to go with "off the shelf" clubs? Actually, many manufacturers who provide custom golf clubs promise delivery within just a few days, a week or two at most.

Among the few negatives of custom golf clubs is the potential for offering them up as a surprise gift and the potential for resale. But at the same time, the golfer who is going to receive the custom clubs will likely gladly give up the "surprise" and most who go to this expense and trouble aren't going to offer the clubs for sale.

Only you can decide whether custom golf clubs are a good investment for you. If you're going to spend a bundle of money for an awesome set of clubs, you may very well take the extra step to get custom clubs.
